District Sales Manager

Northeast Region - New York City, NY area (1)
Ohio Valley Region - Cleveland, OH area (1)

Postition Summary

Strategically develop a plan to increase sales at current and new accounts that are aligned with Sumitomo's corporate strategy for growth. Develop new business through sales calls in a specific geographic area and training to demonstrate the value of Sumitomo products to OEM's, Distributors, Users, and Consultants.

Essential Functions

  • Increase sales activity in the district via sales calls and other promotional activities, including: Distributor training, technical presentations, proposal submittal, market research tools (Selectory).
  • Follow up on sales activities, i.e. quotes, deliveries, returns.
  • Time management assessment - scheduling, e-mail, voice mail, reports.
  • 30% – 40 % travel required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor Degree in Business or technical area of study.
  • Outside sales experience, preferably industrial sales.
  • Computer skills, ability to plan and work independently, and an understanding of the channels in which we do business.

Desired Qualifications

  • 3 to 4 years experience in the mechanical power transmission market is a plus.

Material Planner/Buyer

Chesapeake, VA, Production/Inventory Control & Purchasing Dept. (2)

Position Summary

Inventory, purchasing, and capacity planning.

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes material usage expectations for both dependent and independent demands, and establish individual part stocking levels.
  • Initiates part requisition and place purchase order with approved vendor to ensure timely delivery of components to support operational requirements.
  • Must be capable of applying industry best practices and procurement/planning experience to all processes. Acts as an effective and positive change agent to recommend, and as appropriate, lead the implementation of such methodologies within the organization.
  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
  • Maintains a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining the tracking of materials through the production cycle and availability of production resources.
  • Ensures proper controls within the inventory control system and its interfacing programs.
  • Reviews the existing inventory levels to identify and propose disposition of excess/technically obsolete products.

Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Postition Summary

Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company's needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, and select production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality and delivery competitive levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. The position is also responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services.

Essential Functions:

  • Commodity buying of fabrications, gears, castings, electrical, shipping supplies, machining, etc. on a national and international level.
  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required. Close coordination with plant engineering to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers; and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Work closely with Production and Inventory Control to advance enterprise-wide sourcing programs as appropriate.
  • Purchase goods and services from Requisitions for production, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Procure goods as required.
  • Maintain and complete given projects that enhance all areas of the SMA operation.
  • Inventory planning for assigned products.
  • Study market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advising company activities with concurrence of a Senior Buyer and/or Director, Purchasing.
  • 3-5 plus years of purchasing in a manufacturing environment or related field.
  • Purchasing systems knowledge. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of researching and evaluating commodities on a national and international level.
  • Other duties as required.

  • B.S. Degree – Business Administration or related field.
